About this site
Bungalow Bay is a bay dive on the western side of Racha Yai Island, about an hour and a half by boat from Chalong Bay, Phuket. It is a popular site in the high season, when the weather mostly comes from the east, because the bay is protected from easterly weather.
The site is divided into a north side and a south side with similar features. The reef is mostly hard coral that slopes gently from either side of the bay into and across the centre. There is plenty of white sand, and depths range from about 2 m to about 25 m on the north wall, with boulder formations and staghorn coral. The south wall is shallower.
The site is gentle and easy, with generally very good visibility, and it is a good place to learn to dive. The marine life is diverse, and small things reward a close look, though it is not the prettiest site in the area.
