Cantarel (Eagle Ray Wall)

Cantarel, also known as Eagle Ray Wall, lies along the southwest shore of Cozumel, part of the string of reef sites accessed by boat from San Miguel and worked by the current running north along the island's leeward side. It sits within the same limestone reef system that runs past Palancar and Colombia, an area known for spur and groove reef formations. The site has a maximum depth of around 12 metres but is rated advanced, largely on account of the strong currents divers have reported here. Its name points to sightings of spotted eagle rays over the drop-off, particularly in cooler months, though as with any current-swept wall, this is not something to count on for any given dive.
