Capernwray

Capernwray is a flooded limestone quarry near Carnforth in Lancashire, popular as a freshwater training and leisure site in the north of England. It reaches a maximum depth of around 21 metres and is rated a beginner dive overall, with much of the activity concentrated in the shallower band above that. The lake holds a set of sunken attractions placed at various depths, including a bus, a helicopter, a sailboat and other man-made features used for training and photography. Visibility is generally good by UK freshwater standards, though the water stays cold year round and a drysuit is normal. Fish life includes trout and other freshwater species stocked in the lake, and the site suits divers of most levels given its beginner rating.
