About this site
The Captain Dan wreck lies off the southeast Florida coast near Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach in Palm Beach County, part of the artificial reef program that has placed retired vessels and structures along this stretch of Atlantic coastline. The site bottoms out around 34.3 metres and is rated an advanced dive, with divers noting strong current and the option of wreck penetration. Barracuda and grouper are regularly encountered on the wreck, and divers have also reported jacks, amberjack, snapper, and even the occasional whale shark passing through. Boat trips out to the site typically depart from marinas in the Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach area.
