Carysfort Reef Light

Carysfort Reef Light marks a shallow coral reef off Key Largo in the upper Florida Keys, within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. The lighthouse itself is an iron-pile structure dating to the mid-1800s, one of the oldest of its kind still standing on the reef tract, and the surrounding reef has long been a marker for boaters navigating this stretch of the Atlantic side of the Keys. Diving here reaches a maximum depth of around 18 metres and is rated intermediate, with the reef structure spreading out beneath and around the lighthouse pilings.
