About this site
Marettimo is the westernmost of the Egadi Islands, off the coast of Trapani in western Sicily, and its shoreline is marked by steep limestone cliffs that continue underwater. The Castello site takes its name from the ruined Saracen or Norman era fortification visible on the high ground above, a common reference point for dive spots along this part of the island. The Egadi archipelago sits within a marine protected area known for its rocky coastline and clear waters. As a dive site, Castello reaches a maximum depth of around 18 metres and is rated a beginner dive, making it accessible to divers with limited experience.
