About this site
Cathedral is a wall dive off the Minahasa Peninsula in northern Sulawesi, in the waters near the Bunaken Manado Tua marine area, with operators typically running trips out of Manado. This stretch of coast is known for its steep volcanic reef walls and channels, and Cathedral reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres, rated an intermediate dive. Divers have reported choppy surface conditions, depth exceeding open-water limits, and strong currents here, so care with timing and entry is worth factoring in. Marine life reported at the site is varied, including barracuda, clownfish, grouper, lionfish, octopus, parrotfish, snapper, trevally, triggerfish, and wrasse, along with occasional sightings of manta rays, hammerhead sharks, oceanic whitetip sharks, thresher sharks, and even whales passing through.
