Si Amil Island sits off the coast of Sabah near Tawau, in the waters of the Celebes Sea off Borneo, and the surrounding reefs draw divers based out of the Tawau area. The location places it within the same broader coral triangle waters as nearby Sipadan and Mabul, off the eastern coast of Malaysian Borneo.
