About this site
Churchill Barrier 3 is one of the causeways built across the eastern approaches to Scapa Flow in Orkney, connecting the Orkney Mainland to the southern islands and constructed during the Second World War to block U-boat access to the fleet anchorage. The dive here follows the barrier's blockships and rubble to a maximum depth of around 15 metres and is rated advanced. Divers exploring the site have reported wrasse among the rocks along the causeway.
