About this site
The Cimbria was a German ocean liner that sank in 1883 after colliding with another vessel in the North Sea, off the East Frisian Islands near Borkum. The wreck now lies broken up on a sandy bottom in the southern North Sea, a site occasionally dived from the Lower Saxony coast. Visibility and current in this part of the North Sea tend to be limited, and the site is generally treated as one for divers with some open water experience given the conditions typical of the German Bight.
