Anton Lizardo sits on the Veracruz coast of the Gulf of Mexico, southeast of the port city of Veracruz, an area known for its barrier reefs and shoals that make up part of the Sistema Arrecifal Veracruzano. Colas de Gato would be one of the reef formations dived from this stretch of coastline, typically accessed by boat from the small fishing and naval town of Anton Lizardo itself.
