About this site
Coral Gardens lies off Derawan Island, part of the Derawan archipelago on the northeast coast of Kalimantan in Indonesian Borneo. The islands sit along the Berau coastline, facing the Celebes Sea, and diving here is typically arranged through small operators based on Derawan itself. The site is a reef dive to a maximum depth of around 24 metres, rated for beginners, with light current over a reef bottom that makes it an easy, relaxed dive. Divers have reported frogfish, ghost pipefish, leaf scorpionfish, seahorses, nudibranchs, and manta rays passing through the area.
