About this site
Corsair Rock is a submerged pinnacle at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay near Point Nepean, off the Mornington Peninsula outside Melbourne. It sits close to the shipping channel that runs through the Rip, the narrow, tide-swept passage connecting the bay to Bass Strait. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres and is rated an advanced dive, largely a reflection of its exposed position near this notoriously strong tidal channel. Divers need to time the site carefully around slack water given its proximity to the Rip's currents and shipping traffic.
