About this site
Cosmeston is an inland site in the Vale of Glamorgan, on the outskirts of Penarth near Cardiff in south Wales. It centers on flooded former limestone quarry lakes within Cosmeston Lakes Country Park, a short drive from the Bristol Channel coast. The lake holds a wreck used for training and exploration dives, reaching a maximum depth of around 21 metres and rated a beginner site. Divers have reported the wreck as unstable, and sightings there have included barracuda, octopus, and scorpionfish, species more commonly linked to warmer seas than a Welsh quarry lake.
