Le Grand Congloué lies just off the Marseille coastline in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, within the calanques area that stretches along this stretch of the Mediterranean. The island itself is known for archaeological wreck excavations carried out in the mid twentieth century, and the surrounding waters are dived from boats out of Marseille or nearby calanque ports.
