About this site
The Courtney Knight Gaines Memorial Reef sits off the Florida Panhandle in the Gulf of Mexico, at coordinates placing it well offshore from the coastline near the Apalachicola/St. Vincent Island area. It is an artificial reef site, reaching a maximum depth of around 30 metres. As with much of the Panhandle's reef program, it offers structure placed to attract fish and other marine life to an otherwise open sandy Gulf bottom.
