Cozumel

Cozumel is an island off the eastern coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula, across the channel from Playa del Carmen, in the Caribbean Sea. It is a well known diving destination famous for its clear water and drift diving along coral reef walls and spurs on its western and southern shores, including sites within the Arrecifes de Cozumel National Park. Diving here typically follows the strong current running along the reef, and divers commonly encounter turtles, eagle rays, groupers, and a wide variety of reef fish. Depths on the fringing reefs range from shallow shelves to deeper walls dropping past 30 metres, and the stronger drift sections are generally recommended for divers comfortable with current.
