About this site
Crater Lake sits in south-central Oregon, filling the caldera left by the collapse of Mount Mazama roughly 7,700 years ago. It is the deepest lake in the United States, though diving here reaches a documented maximum depth of about 24.4 metres and is rated an intermediate dive. The lake's water is famously fed by snowmelt and rain rather than rivers, with no outside sediment or stream inflow to cloud it. Access is tightly controlled by the National Park Service, and any dive here takes place in a high-elevation, cold-water setting within the caldera itself.
