About this site
Crocodile Island is a small uninhabited island south-east of Boracay in the Philippines, named because from a distance it looks like the head of a crocodile. The dive is a sloping wall that starts at about 5 metres and drops gradually to 20 to 25 metres, with canyons, caves and overhangs. The best depth to dive it is between 12 and 20 metres.
The reef holds soft and hard corals, sponges and a wide variety of fish, including sweetlips, snappers, angelfish and butterflyfish, as well as macro life.
It lies near the channel between Boracay and the mainland, so the currents can be fierce, especially during tidal changes, and the dive is best at slack tide. Check the tide table first. Visibility can drop after rains, when the river from the mainland overruns. Open Water certification is the minimum, and the site suits intermediate divers.
