About this site
The CSX Rubble Site lies off the Florida coast near the Alabama state line, in the Gulf waters south of Pensacola and Perdido Key. It is an artificial reef site made of deposited rubble material, reaching a maximum depth of around 27 metres. Sites like this are typically used to build hard structure on an otherwise sandy Gulf bottom, drawing reef fish and encrusting growth over time.
