Cypress Tunnels lies off Ambergris Caye, Belize's largest island and a common base for dive operators working the barrier reef and nearby atolls, with sites here typically reached by short boat rides out from San Pedro. This is a cave site with a bottom of cave terrain, reaching a maximum depth of about 22.9 metres and rated a beginner dive. Divers have reported greater star coral, massive starlet coral, mustard hill coral, symmetrical brain coral, and thin leaf lettuce coral lining the structure, along with grouper, snapper, horse-eye jacks, southern stingrays, and nurse sharks moving through the area.
