Dean's Blue Hole

Dean's Blue Hole sits at Long Island in the Bahamas, near the settlement of Clarence Town, in a small bay on the island's west side. It is one of the deepest known blue holes in the world, dropping to over 200 metres, though the collapse walls flare out into an open chamber below about 20 metres. The site is best known as a freediving destination and has hosted major freediving competitions, drawing divers more for depth training than for reef life. Recreational scuba diving here is rated beginner, with typical dives kept to around 30.5 metres along the rim and upper cavern rather than the deep shaft below. Divers have also flagged the overhead environment, tidal influence, and unexplored passages further down as hazards worth respecting, even though the accessible upper section stays open and manageable.
