About this site
El Escambrón sits along the coastal park of the same name in Puerta de Tierra, on the edge of San Juan, Puerto Rico, facing the Atlantic just outside the old city walls. The area is a public beach and park easily reached from downtown San Juan, with rocky and reef patches offshore used by local shore divers. The reef here tops out at a shallow maximum of around 7 metres, making it a beginner dive, and divers have reported sea turtles among the rocky patches.
