About this site
El Galeon is a wooden shipwreck off the coast of San Pedro de Alcántara, lying at a depth of 7 metres. The wreck was once believed to be a French galleon from 1704, though a silver 8 Real Spanish coin from 1682 points to a more mysterious origin.
Divers can explore the scattered remains, including large cannons, buttons and belt buckles. Marine life now calls the wreck home, and the site draws underwater photographers.
