About this site
El Penon lies along the Caribbean coast of the Dominican Republic, near the resort areas around La Romana and Bayahibe on the country's southeastern shore in La Altagracia province. Dive operators in Bayahibe run boat trips out to sites along this stretch of coastline. It is a reef dive reaching a maximum depth of around 12 metres, rated beginner level, and divers have reported lionfish on the reef here.
