About this site
The Energy Determination is a wreck site off the coast of the UAE, near the Strait of Hormuz area of the Gulf. The vessel was a supertanker that suffered an explosion and sinking in the early 1980s during the Iran-Iraq war era, when tanker traffic through this stretch of Gulf water came under repeated attack. It now lies broken up on the seabed off Fujairah, drawing technical divers due to its size and depth. Because of the depth and the fact that the wreckage is spread and broken rather than intact, this is generally considered a dive for experienced or technical divers rather than beginners.
