About this site

The Ex-HMAS Brisbane is a decommissioned Royal Australian Navy guided missile destroyer that was scuttled in 2005 as an artificial reef off Mooloolaba, on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, despite the search-result location listing Brisbane. The ship served the RAN from the late 1960s through the 1990s before being sunk to create a dive attraction, and it sits upright in around 28 metres of water with the superstructure reachable at shallower depths. At roughly 133 metres long, it offers extensive penetration opportunities through its bridge, decks, and passageways, and has attracted a good covering of marine growth along with reef fish. The size and depth make it a dive best suited to those with wreck experience, particularly for anyone planning to go inside rather than stay on the exterior.
