Explosion lies off the northern coast of Crete, Greece's largest island, in waters where the Aegean meets a long history of maritime traffic between Greece, the Aegean islands, and North Africa. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres and is rated an intermediate dive. Divers have reported grouper, moray eel, snapper, and trevally around the site.
