St Abbs sits on the North Sea coast of the Scottish Borders, just north of Eyemouth, and boat trips from Eyemouth harbour commonly run divers out to the marine reserve waters around St Abbs Head. This stretch of coastline is characterised by rocky reef and cliff scenery shaped by volcanic rock formations along the shore.
