About this site
False Bay is the large bay east of the Cape Peninsula, stretching from Cape Point to Cape Hangklip along the Western Cape coast near Cape Town. It includes numerous dive sites around kelp forests, reefs, and rocky pinnacles, with conditions varying considerably by location, from the sheltered sites near Simon's Town's naval harbour to the more exposed areas toward Cape Point. The bay has long been associated with great white shark activity, particularly around Seal Island, and divers have reported great white sharks in the wider bay as well.
