About this site
Pollara sits on the western side of Salina Island in the Aeolian archipelago off the north coast of Sicily, a village built into the rim of a former volcanic crater that opens to the sea. The Faraglione here refers to the rocky stack rising just offshore from the bay, a landmark visible from the village above. This stretch of coast is volcanic in origin, with steep cliffs and dark rock formations typical of the Aeolian Islands. The dive around the stack is shallow, reaching a maximum depth of around 6 metres, and is rated a beginner site.
