About this site
Fushi Kandu is a channel dive on Vaavu Atoll, one of the passages cutting through the Felidhu Atoll rim where the inner lagoon exchanges water with the open sea. Kandu sites in this part of the Maldives are known for drift diving along the channel edges, with strong tidal currents that pull divers past coral outcrops and overhangs, and grey reef sharks and other pelagics are commonly reported passing through such channels. The dynamic currents that make these sites productive for larger marine life are also what make them more suited to experienced divers. Depths in these Vaavu channels typically range from the reef top down into the 20 to 30 metre range along the drop-offs.
