Makronisos and the neighboring islet of Patroklos sit off the tip of the Attica peninsula near Lavreotiki, in the southernmost part of the region facing the Aegean Sea. The waters around this stretch of coast are dotted with rocky islets and channels between the mainland near Sounio and the small islands offshore.
