About this site
Grand Canyon — also known as Grand Central Station — is a reef wall dive site at Namena Island, located approximately 23 miles from the dive shop on Vanua Levu, Fiji, and reached by boat. The site is rated advanced, with a maximum depth of 30 m and medium current.
The terrain is defined by a vertical wall that drops as far as the eye can see, covered in coral throughout. After swimming along the wall, the route crosses a large sand patch, then continues through a school of barracuda and past a school of redtooth triggerfish before passing through an arch and finishing over a large coral-covered mount.
The wall itself is draped in coral and busy with a wide variety and number of fish; larger fish cruise out in the open water away from the wall face. The blueish light filtering from cloud cover above lends the site a distinctive atmospheric quality underwater.
