Grossa Exterior lies off Illa Grossa, the largest island in the Columbretes archipelago, a group of small volcanic islands off the coast of Castellon province in Spain's Valencia region. The Columbretes sit within a marine reserve in the western Mediterranean, reached by boat from the mainland coast of Castellon. Divers here have reported cushion coral, loggerhead sea turtles, and violescent sea-whip along the site.
