About this site
Grotta Capo Meli (Il Costone di Capo Meli) is a marked boat dive in zone B of the Plemmirio marine protected area south of Siracusa. From the mooring buoy the white limestone plateau at 12 m drops over a ledge to sand and Posidonia at 20 m, with a semicircular cave entrance, deep horizontal fissures sheltering groupers and scorpionfish, and a rock basin with vertical walls; the green route stays within 20 m and the red route reaches 25 m. It is rated easy and barracuda schools are common on the plateau.
