About this site
Herakeke Point offers a rugged underwater landscape with dramatic rock formations and kelp forests swaying in the currents. Expect encounters with blue cod, octopus, and stingrays gliding over the rocky bottom. Visibility is often excellent, with depths ranging from 5 to 25 meters. The site is best dived at slack tide when currents ease, revealing vibrant sponge gardens and occasional dolphins passing by. Cold but rewarding, this spot showcases Otago’s wild coastal beauty.
