Hilma Hooker

The Hilma Hooker is a freighter that sat impounded in Bonaire's harbor in the early 1980s after drugs were found aboard, and it sank near Angel City in 1984 under circumstances that were never fully explained. It now lies on its starboard side on a sand bottom off the southwest coast of Bonaire, close to shore, at a depth of roughly 18 to 30 metres, with the site's maximum depth given as 30 metres. The hull is around 72 metres long and largely intact, making it a popular penetration dive for those with wreck training, while divers with less experience can circle the exterior. It draws tarpon that often hover inside the structure, along with typical Caribbean reef fish along the hull, and angelfish have also been spotted around the wreck. Despite the depth, it is rated a beginner dive over the wreck itself.
