Ilhéu das Rolas sits just off the southern tip of São Tomé island, marking the point where the equator crosses through São Tomé and Príncipe in the Gulf of Guinea. The islet is a small, forested outcrop separated from the main island by a narrow channel, with volcanic rock formations dropping into the surrounding water.
