Restinga da Marambaia is a long sand spit stretching along the coast of Rio de Janeiro state, separating the Baía de Sepetiba from the open Atlantic. The area is largely under Brazilian military control, which limits public access to much of the peninsula and its surrounding waters. Dive sites along this stretch of coast are typically reached by boat from nearby towns such as Itacuruçá or Mangaratiba.
