About this site
Kafena Kandu is a channel dive site in the southern Maldives, near Thinadhoo in the Gaafu Dhaalu region. Kandus of this kind mark the passages between reef and open ocean where atoll waters exchange with the surrounding sea, and they are typically reached by boat from local island or liveaboard operations in the atoll. Divers here have also reported dot-and-dash goatfish moving along the reef, along with pentagonal honeycomb coral formations on the structure itself.
