Kareko Pasir

Kareko Pasir lies along the Lembeh Strait off the northeastern tip of Sulawesi, a stretch of water separating the mainland from Lembeh Island known for its black sand slopes. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 25 metres and is typically reached by short boat rides from Bitung or the small resorts along the coast. It fits the muck diving character of the strait, with divers reporting an array of nudibranchs including Anna's Chromodoris, Batangas Halgerda, Many-lobed Ceratosoma, Ocellate Phyllidia, Slender ceratosoma, and Tryon's Hypselodoris. Divers have also spotted coconut octopus, painted frogfish, ornate ghostpipefish, and the elusive blue dragon along the sand here.
