About this site
Kwatisore Bay is a dive area on the Cenderawasih Bay coast of Papua, Indonesia, known for year-round whale shark encounters. The sharks are drawn in by local fishing platforms, and divers can expect several circling underneath, feeding on fish discarded by the fishermen.
Large schools of fish, occasional ocean sunfish, reef sharks and sea turtles are also seen, along with macro life. Local fishermen believe the whale sharks bring them luck and share a small part of their catch with them.
