L'Ermitage sits off L'Ermitage-les-Bains on the west coast of Reunion Island, near the town of Saint-Gilles, in an area fronted by the lagoon and reef system typical of the island's sheltered west side. Divers here have reported dusky gregories, Hawaiian convict surgeonfish, Indian Ocean humbugs, lagoon triggerfish, Moorish idols, spotted boxfish, vagabond butterflyfish, and yellow boxfish among the reef fish life.
