La Calcarella lies off Golfo Aranci on Sardinia's northeastern coast, in the province of Olbia-Tempio near the Costa Smeralda. This stretch of coastline is marked by granite headlands and rocky seabeds, and La Calcarella itself is a wall dive reaching a maximum depth of around 36 metres. It is rated an advanced dive, consistent with the depths involved along this part of the Tyrrhenian-facing coast.
