About this site
La Cattedrale is a cave dive on the Salento peninsula near Lecce, in Puglia, along the coastline where the limestone karst geology of the region has carved caves and rock formations into the shore. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 16 metres and is rated an advanced dive, consistent with the overhead environment typical of these coastal caverns. The surrounding waters, part of the Adriatic or Ionian coast bounding the heel of Italy, show the same weathered limestone character found elsewhere along Salento's shoreline.
