About this site
La Grotta Del Grongo sits along the rocky Calafuria coastline south of Livorno, on the Tyrrhenian Sea side of Tuscany, where dark cliffs and small coves give access to several dive sites from shore or by small boat. This particular site is a shallow cave dive with a maximum depth of around 4 metres and a bottom of cave rock, making it a beginner-level dive despite the overhead environment. Divers have reported European spiny lobster tucked into the cave's crevices, along with patches of Mediterranean red coral and violescent sea-whip on the walls. The shallow depth keeps it accessible while still offering the cave setting the Calafuria stretch is known for among local divers.
