Lattimore's Mound lies off Grand Bahama, part of the Bahamian archipelago on the northwestern edge of the Little Bahama Bank. The site sits in shallow water, reaching a maximum depth of around 6 metres, consistent with the limestone banks typical of this stretch of coast reached by boat from the island's northern shore. Divers have reported a dugong in the area, though such sightings are unusual for these waters.
