Le Heinkel lies off the coast near Cap Ferrat and Villefranche-sur-Mer on the French Riviera, in the Mediterranean waters of southeastern France. The site takes its name from a German Heinkel aircraft associated with the wreck, and it reaches a maximum depth of around 58 metres. Divers have also reported marbled crab and painted comber around the site, along with occasional sightings of striped dolphin passing through the area.
