About this site
Lizard Island lies in Lake Malawi, on the freshwater section of the East African Rift that the country shares its name with. Diving here reaches a maximum depth of around 15 metres and is considered suitable for beginners. Divers have also reported barracuda, manta rays, trevally, and even whales around the site, though such species are unusual for this inland lake and worth treating as isolated sightings rather than the norm.
